OP Treasure Hunt
23 July, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Free
Save the date for The Oakley Pedalers “Christmas Treasure Hunt”. This is the event that we had to cancel at Christmas due to COVID, but with so much work gone into arranging the hunt we just couldn’t resist rescheduling.
we encourage all OP Members, of all abilities to come and join us for a fun filled day of great energy and excitement.
Summary of Event
This event is suitable for all abilities. It will be a challenge similar in style to the the “Hares versus the Tortoises”, with the Hares using their speed and agility to cover lots of speedy miles chasing high value points from far and distant hidden treasures. Meanwhile, the Tortoises will have to use their skill and intelligence, to forage local treasures, whilst meandering at a more social pace, gracefully collecting the plentiful, lower value treasure points. In both cases, whether you be Tortoise or Hare, your team will need to be well organised and prepared to skilfully plot the most points efficient route. All entrants must be at the designated coffee stop at 1.30pm to complete the challenge and points will deducted for teams arriving late. It’s a race against time so be prepared, and fuel up in advance so that you can minimise stops and allow your team to pick up as many treasure points as possible in the time available.
Typically our treasure hunts do not allow use of a phone or the internet, but this is no ordinary treasure hunt so we highly encourage you to use your mobile device as this will offer some benefits, especially as the use of Google maps may be necessary for some checkpoints. Also worth noting that at least one member of each team will need the “What3words” free app installed on their device. This app identifies every location in the country to within 3 metres and will be used to locate some of the hidden treasures.
