DESCRIPTION:Save the date:  Saturday  8 July  2023\nHopefully the sun will shine for us and the weather will be warm so that we can take full advantage of some great summer cycling in glorious Dorset.  The route takes us through some amazing countryside with a nice little trek into the village of Cerne Abbas followed by a little climb up to view the awesome Cerne Abbas Giant nearby. \nTo save a few blushes on the day\, be warned that the Cerne Abbas Giant\, 55 metres (180 ft) high\, depicts a standing nude male with a prominent erection and wielding a large club in its right hand. 🙂 \nFor lunch we have planned a stop\, at mile 41 in Poundbury\, at the scrumptious Finca Coffee shop and Bakery shop where we can enjoy fresh coffee and delicious pastries\, cakes and snacks\, whilst sunbathing out on deckchairs in the summer sunshine. \n  \nCerne Abbas \nOP Dancing at Finca Poundbury \n  \nDistance: 61 miles\nElevation: 3313 ft\nCoffee stop: Finca in Poundbury at 42 miles. \n  \n \nParking at: Streche Rd\, Wareham\, Dorset\, BH20 4QF \nThis event is open to all Oakley Pedalers members.\nAway Day events are offered up in addition to the standard Saturday club rides.

SUMMARY:OP Summer Away Day 2023: New Forest Picnic
DESCRIPTION:DATE CHANGED TO SUNDAY 27th August due to bad weather. \nThe New Forest has become a staple in our annual ride schedule and this event will be our final Away Day of the 2023 cycling calendar. \nWe love the New Forest which always delivers a perfect awayday with good routes\, fantastic scenery and the odd interaction with some friendly wildlife. On a good day there are few places better to ride a bike than the New Forest and our planned routes this year has pretty much everything you would expect from our glorious English countryside in the heart of Dorset. \nFollowing the success of last years event\, we are offering up something suitable for all riders\, with 3 routes available to ride. For those wanting a relaxed day with lots of coffee stops and photo opportunities\, we have planned a social 55 mile ride\, and for the more adventurous riders\, who are looking for a longer more challenging day on the road bike\, we have fantastic 79 mile route. SUMMARY:OP Weekender Away 2023: Shropshire
DESCRIPTION:Friday 15th to Sunday 17th Sept 2023 \nOur OP Weekender for 2023 will be hosted at the beautifully restored water mill in the Shropshire village of Clun.  The venue is set in the countryside and  retains much of its rustic\, industrial charm\, with exposed beams\, stripped timber floors and old machinery still in place\, giving the hostel plenty of character. \nThe venue has been recommended as a great base for visitors on walking and cycling holidays\, looking to explore the unspoilt landscape\, hill forts\, castles and picturesque market towns nearby. \nDetails and Route coming soon… \nRides & Routes are being developed by our in-house expert with local knowledge (aka Andrew Housden) and these will have something for everyone whether you’re a social\, inter or advanced rider. The typical format of these weekends is to travel on Friday with the main ride on Saturday followed by a Pigwich on Sunday\, travelling back later on Sunday. \nAccommodation:\nYHA\, Clun Mill\, The Craven Arms\, Shropshire\, SY7 8NY.\nCost: £63.00 per person for the weekend (2 nights). \nThis event is open to all Oakley Pedalers members.\nAway Day events are offered up in addition to the standard Saturday rides which are still available to ride.

So whether you are climbing for fun\, or trying to collect a bunch of KOMs / QoMs we hope you will join us and support this super event. \nSocial Route 63 miles 3110 ft\nCoffee stop at mile 32 at The Butser Hill Cafe\, Butser Hill Nature Reserve. \n \nAdvanced/Inter  Route 86 miles 4875 ft\nCoffee stop at mile 41 at The Butser Hill Cafe\, Butser Hill Nature Reserve. \n \nThere is an option for second coffee stop at Alresford on the way back for these in need of additional caffeine. \nThis event is open to all Oakley Pedalers members.\nAway Day events are offered up in addition to the standard Saturday rides which are still available to ride.
