Isle of Wight Away Weekend
Departing Oakley, 9am Saturday 10th September and returning to Oakley 5pm, Monday 12th September 2022
Isle of Wight to host Tour of Britain 2022 final stage:
The Isle of Wight will host the Tour of Britain – the UK’s biggest and most prestigious professional cycle race – for the first time ever in September 2022 that will see the final stage of the 2022 race taking place on the island. To coincide with the event, the Oakley Pedalers Away Weekend will be on the Isle Of Wight giving OP members an opportunity to experience this momentous event whilst also taking in some amazing cycling around the beautiful island.

We have reserved some tables for both Saturday and Sunday evening dining. The Village Inn has a casual vibe, with an extensive menu so the venue should hopefully cater to everyone’s needs. Alternatively you can make your own arrangements for evening meal, or prepare food and eat at the the accommodation which has self catering facilities.
The cost of evening meal is not included in the price so you will pay for your food and drinks on the night.
Luggage (Optional):
So that members have an option to cycle from Oakley, we are offering a bag drop service from Oakley to the accommodation on IoW.
Bag drop is restricted to 1 bag per rider and cost is £5.00. Ideally the bag should be a soft bag, or airline cabin size bag (approx 55x40x25cm).
Bags to be dropped off at location near the Co-Op in Oakley buy Thursday 8th September.
Ferry Crossing:
Ferry tickets are not included in the price, so we recommend that all participants purchase their tickets on-line and in advance of the event.
We are aiming for the 2pm crossing from Southampton to East Cowes on Sat 10th September, and will return on 12pm crossing from East Cowes to Southampton, on Monday 12th September 2022.
Return tickets cost £21.90 and can be booked on the Red Funnel website.
Limited Spaces, so please book early.
Space will be limited to 30 places and will be allocated on first come first served basis.
To reserve you place please complete the online booking form and make your deposit payment of £70.00 directly to Oakley Pedalers bank account (details were included in the OP members email sent on 19 April 2022).
Saturday 10th Sept: Oakley to Seaview via Stockbridge
We plan to ride at 9am from the OP Car Park so please arrive a few minutes early so that we can depart promptly.
There is also an opportunity for some OP riders to join us for part of the route before peeling off and returning home.

Sunday 11th Sept: Day Trippers
For day trippers that are planning to join the away weekenders on Sunday 11th for the Tour of Britain stage, here is the route that we plan to use:

The weekenders will probably be at Ryde for around 09:30 to see the build up, the race rollout is 11:00.
We’ll drop a location pin on this group chat so that others coming for the day can meet up.
Monday 12th Sept: Return route from Seaview to Oakley
We plan to take the 12:30pm ferry from Cowes which will arrives at Southampton at 13:30.
For lunch either pick up a light bite at the ferry port or you can grab some lunch whilst aboard.
We plan to stop for coffee and a snack on the ride home and we will stop either at Headlands Farm Coffee Shop at West Wellow, or Leckford Farm in Stockbridge.
