The Oakley Pedalers are a community cycling club based in the village of Oakley in North Hampshire. Formed in early 2008 by four community minded cyclists Mike, Nick, Ken V and Ken R, the Oakley Pedalers has enjoyed steady growth over the years. We are passionate about providing a cycling environment suitable for all non-competitive cyclists. We cater for family rides, leisure rides, off-road rides and road rides. We do not compete in cycling competitions; our interest is in getting the community back in the saddle. We want to provide an opportunity for all members of the community to be able to experience the simple pleasures of cycling within a safe, informal cycling group.
We have found that most people who ride with the Oakley Pedalers do so because they enjoy the club ethos. So what is our ethos? Simple, to be a friendly, supportive, welcoming cycle group who value people first and cycling secondly.
You don’t need to be a lycra clad racing cyclist to join our cycling club, but if you are then that’s fine too. We’re happy to support and encourage you while you develop your training and then point you in the right direction of the next cycling club that can take you forward to meet your aspirations!
Whether you’re just off your stabilisers, or looking to do a sixty mile club run once a week, or are somewhere in between, then come and have a chat with us. We strive to create an environment that is inclusive and respect that people are at different stages and levels with their cycling and it’s perfectly OK with us if that’s where you want to stay! You don’t need to be an aspiring Bradley Wiggins to cycle with a cycling club and certainly not with the Oakley Pedalers.
So, if you have been looking for a reason to get the bike out of the back of the garage, pump up the tyres and get some fresh air and exercise, then we warmly welcome and invite you to come along and give The Oakley Pedalers a go!
We look forward to seeing you at the the school lay-by on Oakley Lane, Oakley, Basingstoke, RG23 7JY
