Return to Cycling after Injury or Illness

In the event of a member suffering an injury or illness that is serious enough to involve hospital or other medical center treatment, the Club advises and requests that the rider does not participate in Club rides for at least one day after medical discharge.

There is no requirement to present medical or ‘fitness to ride’ sign-offs but the club asks that riders consider the risk to themselves and their fellow cyclists before returning to group rides. This is for the protection of all.

There is no definitive list of injuries/illnesses but a scenario to consider is a concussion head injury. Most sports have a return protocol that must be followed to protect the athlete. Should you be unfortunate enough to suffer in this way, please use common sense and respect both your own safety and that of the people you want ride with. Most importantly, adhere to professional medical advice.
